Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent is the French fashion house founded in 1961 by designer Yves Saint Laurent and partner Pierre Bergé. Watches were never a core manufacture story: Citizen produced YSL-licensed watches for Japan from the mid-1970s; Cartier later held a worldwide accessories master license with Citizen sublicensing; Richemont-era production continued until Gucci Group acquired YSL in 1999 and discontinued the watch license during repositioning.

YSL-branded vintage watches are therefore fashion-license pieces from Citizen/Cartier-linked programmes. The founding year 1961 refers to the couture house, not a watch factory.
