About Vulcain
Vulcain traces to Manufacture Ditisheim, established in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1858 by Maurice Ditisheim; the Vulcain name was developed by the family around the turn of the twentieth century. The brand’s landmark is the Cricket mechanical alarm wristwatch of 1947 (caliber 120), with separate barrels for time and alarm and a sounding case that earned it the nickname “President’s Watch” after gifts to U.S. presidents starting with Truman. Revived in recent decades, Vulcain continues Cricket and classical Swiss lines centred on the mechanical alarm complication.
