Van Der Bauwede

Van Der Bauwede traces family roots to Alexis Van Der Bauwede, who began watchmaking in Bruges in 1890 and opened a jewellery store in 1904. Descendant Maxence Van Der Bauwede moved to Geneva around 1980 and developed the modern Van Der Bauwede Genève watch brand circa 1990, with signature tonneau models such as Magnum and Legend.

The maison presents itself as Swiss fine jewellery and watchmaking with Magnum-era design DNA. While 1890 marks the family craft origin commonly used in branding, the contemporary Geneva watch company is a late-20th-century creation.
