About Union Glashütte

Union Glashütte was founded in Glashütte, Saxony, on 1 January 1893 by businessman Johannes Dürrstein to offer high-quality yet more accessible mechanical watches than the costliest local houses. Production ceased in the interwar years; the name was revived in the 1990s under Glashütte Original and joined the Swatch Group in 2000. Today Union Glashütte operates as a distinct German manufacture brand with in-house and Glashütte-region movements, classical dials and Saxon watchmaking values at a more approachable luxury tier.
