About Orfina
Orfina is a Swiss watchmaker founded in Grenchen by Roland Rüefli in 1922 (later Montres Orfina). The company built a reputation for robust water-resistant watches and chronographs before becoming famous as the first producer of Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche’s all-black Porsche Design Chronograph 1 (1972–1978), using Valjoux 7750 and later Lemania 5100 movements.
After the Porsche Design partnership moved to IWC, Orfina continued with other projects before fading; the name has since been revived as Orfina Swiss SA, again emphasising tool-watch heritage from Grenchen.
