About Ollech & Wajs
Ollech & Wajs (O&W) is a Zurich tool-watch maker founded in 1956 by Joseph Ollech and Albert Wajs. Starting as a small shop selling Omega and Breitling, they soon assembled their own mechanical military and dive watches—famously the Caribbean 1000 (1,000 m rating, mid-1960s) and the Navichron diving chronograph—sold heavily to U.S. servicemen via PX and magazine ads.
Albert Wajs kept the firm mechanical through the quartz crisis. In 2017 collector-entrepreneur Charles Le Menestrel acquired the brand and relaunched rugged Swiss-made divers and field watches that honour the Caribbean and military lineage while updating specs for modern collectors.
