Nodus was founded in 2017 in Los Angeles by Wesley Kwok and Cullen Chen, friends since school, with the aim of building sports watches assembled under their own roof. Cases and components come from outside suppliers, while every watch is assembled, regulated and inspected at the company's own workshop in Los Angeles; the movements are Seiko NH35 and Miyota automatics.

The Trieste diver was the brand's first model, followed by the Retrospect and Avalon divers and the Contrail. The Sector series, launched in 2019 on a shared case in field and dive variants and later extended to pilot and other versions, is its main line, and a GMT version of the Contrail followed in 2021. The NodeX clasp with tool-free micro-adjustment, developed by Nodus for its bracelets, is now fitted to models including the Avalon and Sector Deep.
