About Maurice Lacroix
Maurice Lacroix was established in 1975 by Desco von Schulthess, a Zurich trading house founded in 1889 that had since 1961 owned an assembly workshop in Saignelégier in the Swiss Jura, producing watches for other labels. The brand name honoured a member of the company's board who had died shortly before. In 1989 Maurice Lacroix acquired the case maker Queloz SA, and in 2006 it introduced its first in-house calibre, the ML106 chronograph, in the Masterpiece line. The company became a separate legal entity in 2001, and since 2011 the majority owner has been DKSH, a Swiss trading group.
Production remains in Saignelégier and Montfaucon. The Masterpiece collection carries the brand's complications, including retrograde displays and the Square Wheel mechanism of 2010; Pontos covers classic automatic and sports pieces; Aikon, introduced in 2016 with a six-arm bezel and integrated bracelet, is today the brand's largest line, offered in quartz and automatic versions.
