About Laco

Laco was founded in Pforzheim in 1925 by Frieda Lacher and Ludwig Hummel as Lacher & Co., the name being a contraction of the two. It began by casing Swiss movements; in 1933 Hummel set up Durowe (Deutsche Uhren-Rohwerke) to make movements locally. During the Second World War Laco was one of five companies, with A. Lange & Söhne, IWC, Wempe and Stowa, that built the large B-Uhr observation watches to Luftwaffe specification, the design on which its present-day catalogue rests.

The factory was destroyed in 1945 and rebuilt after the war; Hummel sold the company to Timex in 1959, Timex passed it to Ebauches SA in 1965, and Horst Günther acquired the rights to the name in 1988. After insolvency in 2009 and a restructuring in 2010 Laco has concentrated on pilot's watches in the Type A and Type B dial layouts, offered in Original and Basic series, alongside the Navy and Squad lines.
