About Gruen
Gruen was founded in 1874 by German-born watchmaker Dietrich Gruen (initially in Ohio, later with major operations linked to Switzerland and Cincinnati). The company pioneered thin precision movements and became famous for the Curvex bent-case wristwatches and Precision models. Once a leading American watch name, Gruen declined mid-century; the trademark has since been used by later owners for revival collections. Historical Gruen pieces remain important to American watch collecting.
